Custom Made Orthotics

Custom Made Orthotics.

Does one side of your shoe wear out faster than the other? Do you suffer from knee pain, back pain, lower back pain? Consistent sprains to your ankles? If you answered yes to any of the following questions you may be a candidate for orthotics. When a custom made orthotic is specific for the patient these so called “eyeglasses” for feet can prevent and or treat a variety of foot/ankle and body alignment issues. We sometimes fail to realize that our entire body is supported from the bottom up and neglect our ankles and feet until it’s too late. When our weight is not evenly distributed it can put undue strain on the ankles, knees and lower back which can cause pain and discomfort throughout the body.

What Is an Orthotic?

A foot orthotic is a device that can be inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent and or accommodate foot deformities and improve foot function. Used in conjunction with appropriate footwear, a foot orthotic can  be effective in helping to treat a number of foot and lower limb problems including heel, arch and forefoot pain, shin splints, as well as pain and complications related to health conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.

How are Orthotics made?

In order for us to supply you with a truly custom product, we must take an impression of your foot corrected in sub-talar neutral. We take the majority of our casts in non-weight bearing sub-talar neutral using plaster molding. Orthotics come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Standard, Dress, Sport, Kids and Diabetics are just some of the options that are available to orthotics patients.

                                        Common Foot Problem!

Arch Pain?

You might be suffering from Plantar Fasciitis. The plantar fascia is a very thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. This bandoftissue is what creates the arch of the foot. When the fascia is overstretched or overused, it can become inflamed. When the fascia is inflamed, it can be painful and make walking more difficult.

Heel Pain?

You might be suffering from Heel Spurs. The heel spur (or calcaneal spur) is a nail-like growth of calcium around the ligaments and tendons of the foot where they attach to the heel bone. The spur grows from the bone and into the flesh of the foot.

Ingrown Toenail?

An ingrown toenail can occur for various reasons. The sides or corners of the toenail usually curve down and put pressure on the skin. Sometimes the toenail pierces the skin and then continues to grow into the skin. This may cause redness, swelling, pain and sometimes infection. Ingrown toenails often come from wearing inproper footwear that are to tight.

Bunions?

An enlargement on the side of the foot near the base of the big toe or pinky toe. The enlargement is made up of a bursa (fluid filled sac) under the skin. Bunions can be painful and can be aggravated by activity and wearing tight shoes.

Achilles Tendonities?

Achilles Tendonities involves inflammation of the Achilles tendon. If the tendon stays inflamed long enough, it can lead to thinkening of the tendon. Sometime nodules or bumps can form in thw tendon. Achilles tendonitis can become a long term problem or can lead to rupture of the tendon.
